Signs Your Ducting Needs to be Repaired Or Replaced...

High Energy Bills

Increased energy consumption without a change in habits can be a sign of leaks allowing heated or cooled air to escape. It can also indicate a breakdown of the insulation causing the loss or gain of heat.

Poor Indoor Air Quality

Foul or musty smells, especially when the HVAC system is on, can indicate mold or mildew growing inside the ducts. If you notice an increase in allergy or asthma symptoms, it could be because your ductwork is circulating dust, mold spores, or other irritants.

Poor Performance

If some rooms are consistently warmer or colder than others as well as weak or inconsistent airflow from vents can be caused by blockages or leaks in the ductwork. This can be caused by poor installation, age, or harsh environmental conditions.

Visible Damage

Inspect your ducts for physical damage. Look for cracks, holes, tears, rust, kinks, or collapsed sections. Also look out for signs of pests such as chewed material and rodent droppings.

Leaking Water

If there is lots of moisture in your home or water coming out of the vents, this can be an indication of leaks, poor insulation, or air restrictions.

Unusual Noise

Banging, rattling, or whistling sounds from the ducts are clear signs of damage, loose connections, air leaks, or pests.
